Year in Review I put together a little review of 1999. Go see! |

pssst....its not 1999 anymore... I just got back not too long ago from Isaac Miller's place, where he was kind enough to throw us a party. In the typical fashion, there was food, pool, music, and Monty Python. In attendance were most of the Crazy Geeks including Drew, who brought a lady whose name I do not remember, Jill, Joey, Tracy, Zach Evans, Luke, and Jen, who brought Matt...somebody (never can remember his last name). There was also the whole Miller family, Red, Joshie, Mom, and step dad. Turns out that Red invited Tracy, which was a bit awkward for some. Anyway...Jill and Jen (and company) left early to, unsurprisingly, head on to other, more lucrative (I guess?) parties. Fly like a butterfly...fly like a butterfly. Anyone with a watchful eye would see that BeEf wasn't mentioned there. This was a topic of very little discussion at the "party." In fact, it occupied a whole minute of conversation between myself and Zach. It wasn't until I came home that I found out where BeEf was. It turns out that he went to North Carolina to ring in the New Year with Kim. To all those people in IST101 and IST120 who, except for Joey, will probably never lay eyes on this, I told you so. I think I'll write a little email... |

3 Days until Y2K! Are you ready? Got plenty of fuel for your generator? Got plenty of bottled water and canned food? Ready for the end of the world as we know it? Whatever... Everything in moderation... ...but tell it to the girl in this article. Etc. I just had a thought. I update this page, and on occasion redesign it, yet as a whole, it has no real purpose. It's just kinda here. I suppose some of you are entertained by reading it, so...I suppose that is close enough to a purpose for me. Its a good reason to keep at it. I'm taking a brief moment to reflect on the year as I sit here... Its been a rather wasted year. Sure, I've gotten things done, but a good deal of it could have been spent doing something productive rather than...well...something very unproductive. Oh well...can't do much about it now. |

Just what I always wanted...An update! So its almost Christmas...wow. What happened to last year? Time flies... I hope everybody out there has a Merry Christmas. I should get another update in by New Years, so I'll wish ya'll a Happy New Years then. |

The College Experience Finals are over, the papers have been written and turned in. I'm out of ISAT and into Tech Theatre. Now its time for a break...and I've been looking forward to it. I would, though, like to pay homage to the people who made the very first semester of college not so bad. There was a relatively small group of us ISAT people, and they are the ones who I'd like to mention. They are as follows (in no particular order): Ryan Nediff, Holly Nichols, Tim VanHoose, Ben Jitima, Joey Hughes, Al Goble, Brad Ackermann, Adam Stewart, Mike Carter, Sarah Hesson, and Justin Carlson. While the ISAT material sucked, the instructors and faculty were very good and I'd like to thank a few of them. They are Dr. Bill Denman, Mr. Andrew Gooding, Dr. Elizabeth Murray, and Dr. Mike Little. There are also a few who I would like to mention as being not so great...Mike Bryant and Jim Booth. I just didn't like them. See ya'll around. |

The College Experience So my first semester is over. Now I get to take finals...I've taken only one so far and I only had to make a 64 to keep an A - no big pressure there. My next one is at 8AM Monday. Yuck. Oh well. I'm free and clear of one nasty ISAT class with only...um...*counts*...2 to go. Then I'm off to Theatre - wahoo! |

The Weather Today turned out to be a very nice day. I actually drove home this evening with the windows down. Not bad for the beginning of December. Marshall Football The MAC championship game was this evening...Marshall came close to not winning. Off to a bowl game they go... |

The College Experience Its amazing how quickly time has flown by...now the semester is about to wrap up. Wow. I miss Midland...never thought I'd say that, but I do. I miss seeing my friends daily...some more than others. Etc. I thought for lack of something better, I would take a look back and see what was going on this time last year... This is the closest I could get... Etc. Per Zach's request, the whateveritis at the top of my page has a Santa hat now. That isn't all that's coming this evening... Entertainment Not too long ago - ok, yesterday - Chandler's AP English class had a Poetry Happening. Since I found that the group with Zach, Ian, Drew, Ike, and Joey had possibly the best poetry, I decided to share it here with everybody. That, and I lack good material. Enjoy. Again, that was a year ago. Have a nice day... |

Gobble Gobble, once again Its Thanksgiving (duh). I hope everybody has something to be thankful for. Think real hard...I bet you can come up with something. You've probably got a roof over your head. If statistics are any measure of lifestyle, you've got a pretty good roof over your head if you're reading this. Be thankful you're not living in a cardboard box under a bridge. Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy your turkey. Tomorrow is Friday I've had all week to do homework that is due next week. I need to do a PowerPoint presentation to back up a speech. I need to do a book report. There is probably some other stuff...I've had all week to do this, but in the college student fashion, I have put it off. I don't really want to do it. This goes back to me not having any desire to do work that I don't think is worth my time. I certainly don't think this crap is worth my time, even if I'm not doing anything else with it. |

People I just got back from the viewing of Sleepy Hollow with Beef, Luke, Ian, and Zach. The film was pretty good, but that isn't the inspiration for my writing this. After the film, we were standing around outside talking. On my way home, I thought about what was said and how everyone acted. I realized this: as much as people change, they are still the same. I will leave it at that else I step on toes. There were some other people there. The only one worth mention is Prich...everyone else seemed to have their nose in the air... Etc. It never ceases to amaze me that one of the first things I do when I come back from somewhere is to throw on an update to the page here. Its like second nature, I think. Come back, update page with goodies. |

"The College Experience" I'm sitting here in the few minutes before midnight, waiting to register for Spring 2000 classes. I have hastily rebuilt my schedule because I have found that many of the courses I wanted to take have been closed. By closed, I mean to say that nearly every section has been filled. There is a very simple reason for that and it is the so called Marshall Plan. I will proceed to be bitter... I don't know about other locations, but around here, the idea of good education that is held by the powers that be seems to be rather absurd to me. The buzzwords "multicutural," "international," and "writing intensive" seem to be thrown around a lot here. Apparently, those sorts of classes equate to a better education. I don't buy it, personally. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to elaborating on that. And to those of you who don't agree, there is plenty of web space out there for everyone. Get your own page. |

Oliver! A good show, Oliver! was. Wonderful cast, wonderful acting, wonderful company. I noticed a few problems...but its probably only stuff I would notice, since I look for it. Call me wierd...you probably already do. =) A Spot of Fun Have some fun. I just wanna know where Flowers is. |

Another week Yet another week has passed me by. This has, however, been a rather eventful week. On Wednesday, I met with Mike Murphy, my brand new advisor in the Theatre Department. Also on Wednesday, the Registrar managed to tick me off by being so kind as to not be helpful in removing one of the holds on my record. Thursday, I managed to get both holds removed. Its amazing what can happen when you find the right people to talk to. The College Experience My current ISAT written assignments are as follows: 2 book reports, 2 papers, and 2 speeches. And I was in what focus, again? Maybe one of these days I'll get around to writing some of my feelings about education down. Right now, I'm not in the mood and don't want to get in the mood. I'm feeling nice - don't wanna stop the goodness that me feeling good is. |

Its been a long, long time... I notice its been a few days since the last update. To be honest, you haven't missed much. I've been more or less stuck in my daily, unchanging routine. I did, however, enjoy a visit to the Calamity Cafe with my HON101 class Sunday evening. Then it was off to listen to a Dr. Katz (not the SquggleVisionTM one). Other than that...there hasn't been much going on. Boo! How could you miss the new page design? I got bored Saturday evening and made it happen. With a slight polishing this evening, it is done. You'll notice the new Stuff section. I relocated the old Humor section there. You'll also find pictures of all sorts there. I think that's the only major relocation I've made. I would appreciate some input on new pictures to put in the Warp Zone. I think the ones that are there are a bit stale...so... Make your voice heard! Mail me! |

Happy Halloween I'd like to bid everyone a happy, spooky, and belated Halloween. I didn't get around to this yesterday 'cause I was kinda busy. I don't much like being busy. Time Change This whole time change thing always screws me up. Although its nice and light out in the mornings, it gets dark at like 6PM. That's kinda wierd. |

The College Experience I had hopes of doing something productive this evening. Those were dashed as a 3 page paper ate up the evening. (No, a 3 page paper is not productive.) In other news, I have changed colleges. No longer am I in the College of Science. I am now in the College of Fine Arts. I guess we'll see how that goes. It was alarmingly easy to swap colleges, by the way. It took me maybe 15 minutes. From a breaucracy like Marshall, I would expect more like 15 years. Etc. I feel that there is something I wanted to say...unfortunately, I have forgotten what it was, assuming it ever was. |

BeEf and his new found love It seems that someone found BeEf. He has a girlfriend. I've seen her - she is real. Amazing. Spooky at times even. Beef having a girlfriend, that is, not the girl. New Survey Scroll back up if you can't still see it. Pick a major, and hit the button. It will take only a few seconds of your time. |

Dole I see that Elizabeth Dole is dropping out of the presidential race due to lack of funds. Why is lack of funds such a big deal? Why are political campaigns so expensive? Isn't that a huge problem? Doesn't it limit the people who can be politicians? Arg. |

Apologies I apologize for the sporadic updates that are altogether too infrequent. College is keeping me pretty busy and when I'm not doing homework, I'm too tired to do much other than sleep. There is lots of stuff that I could mention that my readers would find uninteresting, as if anything here ever is... There is also some stuff that, if I were to stick it here, would make some people very unhappy. I don't like unhappy people. |

The College Experience I don't know about other colleges, but at Marshall, a student can get tickets to events such as sporting events and plays for free. I did just that yesterday. Joey, Luke, and I went to see "I Ought To Be In Pictures." It was quite an enjoyable play - I was entertained. I suggest everyone see something like this at least once. To me, it was worth the three hours that I would have spend doing nothing else. |
| 10.04.99 |
|
The College Experience Convention supposedly says that for every hour one spends in class, one should spend two hours devoted to that class outside of class. I spend 5 hours in class on a usual Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That means I should spend 10 hours outside of class devoted to those classes. 15 Hours. Each way, I have about a half hour drive with another half hour each way thrown in for preperation and stuff like that. 17 Hours. At some point, I need to shower and practice other personal hygene. 18.5 Hours. There are times I am hungry and need to eat. 20 Hours. I like to have 7 or 8 hours of sleep usually. 28 Hours. Does anyone see a problem? Me. Me me me me me....me. I've been complaining a lot lately. There is a reason. In a moment of clarity, I managed to write down why. I sent it to Jen along with a few words related to another...um...topic, but the one that I am really upset with follows almost verbatim, with some edits made so that it makes sense. I've never been one for the typical. I don't know why exactly. I don't think I'm the typical honors student. I will not just do something because someone tells me to. I didn't apply for scholarships because I didn't want to write the shit that went with them. Sure I would get money, but I didn't believe the means justifies the end. I don't think writing a pointless essay it worth the money that you might get. I don't believe that the honors classes that I am supposed to take are worth the work that goes into them. I suppose I am supposed to want to enrich myself by taking honors classes and doing extra work. I wouldn't mind enriching myself, but I don't think it is really worth the work that will be assigned in the classes. I can achieve the same end just by going to the library and picking up a book. A happy-go-lucky "make it fun" attitude is good, but I find it very difficult to apply in the face of work that I don't want to do. It might not be so bad if all the work I had to do was in one single honors class, but there are other classes that require work as well - classes that are actually related to my major. I don't like being spread out like that. There is a certain amount of work that I believe is appropriate for a purpose which is, in my case, a college degree. That is one of the reasons I didn't want to go to college in the first place. I believe that the huge amount of work associated with college can get in the way of actually learning. I don't want to be enriched by college. I want to learn. I want to be able to do something with what I learn - something concrete. I want to be a productive citizen, not a lazy bum who sits around sipping brandy talking about Moby fucking Dick. That is an exageration, but I think it makes my point... I don't have the ability to automatically make something fun. I can't just take a different perspective on some things. There are just some things that I don't like, no matter how I look at them. I feel somehow stereotyped as an honors student. I see the typical honors students as one who will do anything just to get ahead. They are spineless in a way. They will take AP english not because they like it. They take it just to raise their damn GPA. The educational powers that be seemingly assume that since I am a so called honors student that I will want to enrich myself by taking honors courses and doing more work. I don't - at least not the shit that they have in mind. I don't want to be a typical honors student. I'm NOT the typical honors student and will not just sit aside while I am corraled into crap classes that will be more work that is not worth the outcome. Maybe I'm just not an honors student. |

The College Experience Seems that the college experience has been keeping me pretty busy. Between homework and more homework and sleep, I haven't had a chunk of appreciable free time lately. Frankly, that sucks. There has to be a better way. |
| 09.23.99 |
|
The College Experience As I write this, I am one very bitter and unhappy person. I am not satisfied with college. For what I am getting out of it and what I am going to get out of it, it is not worth my time. I spend 128 credit hours total. Only 19 of them have anything to do with the major directly. 19. That is one more hour that I currently have. And the homework...for something so worthless, how can infringing on my personal time be justified? Expect more from me just as soon as I have time. |
| 09.17.99 |
|
The College Experience I've decided that there is a lot of money out there in the way of scholarships, grants and such. The people with it would be more than happy to give it to you...if you do something more than just send your name in. You gotta write a senseless essay full of drivel. I don't like to write essays, much less essays full of senseless drivel. So is there such a thing as "free money"? I don't know, but I'm still looking. On a less pessimistic note, I'm told that there was a "preacher" on campus preaching hellfire and brimstone. And lady that happened to be wearing pants and/or going to college...yeah...goin' to hell. From what I've heard, the guy was quite the loon. |
| 09.16.99 |
|
The College Experience A justification for laziness, if you will. I don't know about your parents, but after living with my parents for 18 years now, I rarely see them bring home work. As a student that is supposed to be being prepared for the wonderful world of work, I should have to bring home work. Make sense? |
| 09.14.99 |
|
The College Experience I got a stapler...now I'm gonna need some staples. Old ladies driving their Crown Vic's on the interstate People should be speed rated - they should have to have a certification on their drivers liscence that certifies them for interstate highway driving. Why do I say this? Because I'm tired of people poking along on entrance ramps. 40MPH is not an acceptable speed for the top of an entrance ramp. I'm also tired of people doing less than 65 in a 70 zone. 55 is not safe. I managed to get behind both sorts of people this morning. They were both old women, and one was far too short to see over the wheel and smoking a cigarette. Can't they all be little old ladies from Pasadena? Can't they all drive super-stock Dodges? Go granny, go granny, go granny, go... It occurs to me that the music involved in that joke predates many of you...and me. |

The College Experience Traffic. Ugh. I came down 16th Street and turned onto 6th Ave. just like I do every morning. I drove across to 20th Street, and turned left, just like I usually do. Sitting there mid-block between 5th and 6th Avenues is a big truck, across all four lanes. That kinda impedes my ability to get through, so I am forced to find some other way to get to the staduim, where I park. As if fighting traffic in the morning isn't enough, I get to fight with it in the evenings at the mall. If only people didn't rubberneck at the construction... Have I griped enough? =) |
| 09.03.99 |
|
The College Experience Long weekend...mmm... Can I get one of these every second week? |
| 08.31.99 |
|
The College Experience I love Tuesdays and Thursdays for the simple reason that I only have one class. On Thursdays, I have an ecology lab. That usually means being outside to gather data. Today was spent at the riverfront. It was an absolutely beautiful day for that sort of thing. Dave! Dave Hogsett wants a mention on the page. Hmm...well...I just took care of that, I suppose. Never Fails It seems that whenever you're driving someplace you need to be on time, you always get behind someone poking along or get stuck in traffic. That sucks. If you were to leave early to try and compensate for this, you would not get behind said poking person, and you would not be stuck in traffic and you would be early. That also sucks. Its a no win situation. Oh well... better late than never. |
| 08.30.99 |
|
NPR, National Public Radio I wake up to NPR, I sit and work to NPR, I go to sleep to NPR. Its great stuff. Mostly instrumental stuff...no lyrics to distract from important things...I like it. You should too. Its a beautiful day in the Neighborhood One of the perks to college at the moment is that you get to be outside a lot. That is great when the weather is good...and it was today. Absolutely beautiful, rivaled only by a handfull of creatures...if that sort of comparison can be made. The College Experience It is a given that one will run into all sorts of people and all sorts of sights on a college campus. Todays sight for the day was a shirt that...well...I found very humorous. "Jesus saves by using double coupons and shopping wisely." There was also another: "New England Quilting and Terrorist Group" |

Its Been One Week One week of college down, one less to go. Its been a pretty good week, actually. Not too much homework and most of Tuesday and Thursday off. We'll see if I can take a constant diet of this college thing, I suppose. The Future It occurs to me that I will be in school for another four years. That means that I'll probably be getting a steady, full-time job after four years. Does that mean the demise of this page? Will I still update it with the in's and out's of my life? Will there be any in's and out's? Who knows...we'll see in four years. Atypical You know, typically I don't post things about really personal things like my "love" life*. I'm gonna depart for that for a second... I'm pretty sure you all know about the short fling I had with Keri McGraw at the beginning of the summer. I gotta admit, those were some of the best weeks I've had in a long time. At any rate, things didn't work out. If they had, I would probably be writing something with a slightly different flavour. So I've been Keri-free since late June. I thought about her quite a bit up to mid July. From there, thoughts about her waned to nearly nil. Recently, though, I've been thinking about her again. I have no desire to pursue her, and even if I did, I think I would know better...or maybe not. Anyway...if, by some strange twist, she were to change her mind about me and want to come back, I couldn't say no. There is a point to this. Why have I been thinking about her recently? What promped my mind to start thinking about the nutty lady who ruined a month of my summer again? Simple - oldies music. * It should be noted that the reason I don't post much about my "love" life is not because of my discresion...its because of lack of material to post in the area. Which brings me to my car In the great Bledsoe tradition, I fixed something today. The cruise control in my car has been broke for months now, and I decided to fix it. With a little help from the wonderful Audi community out there, a set of metric sockets, and an hour on my head under the dash, I did just that. Its how I spent the greater part of my day. I am gratified. I also need to change the oil. |

The College Experience I did find myself under a small pile of paper which suprised me very little. I feel like I should be doing something right now other than updating my page...I'm just not sure what it is. I'll probably remember at 9AM tomorrow. At any rate, college isn't too bad. Other than some of the things about the honors program and one of my classes, everything is peachy. Weather We finally got rain...you knew that. Its amazing...seems like we're getting a whole summer's worth of rain in 2 days. |
| 08.22.99 |
|
The Case As is the case with most of my friends, I will be starting college tomorrow. I do not relish the thought of another four years of school. "But its different!" Bull. Its still school. Oh well...maybe it will be better than I think. I'll just tell ya'll tomorrow...I hope...if I'm not buried under piles of paper. |

College/People leaving I talk about time and the way it looks to me from time to time. This will be one of them. Its been amazing how fast this summer has gone by. It seems like just yesterday that I was sitting on my duff splicing together video for the senior show and yelling at people to leave the editing room. Now, a bunch of my friends are leaving to go off to their own colleges and such. Some have gone already, some will be leaving soon. The summer has flown by for me. I'll be heading to class bright and early Monday morning. Its absolutely amazing to me. Books I've found that acquiring books is quite a feat. Of the 8 books I need, I have 6. One of them will probably not be around due to some problem that the publisher is having. The other...who knows. |

What Jen Wants To Do It is time for the current survey to be switched out to another. While you're waiting for me to come up with a new idea, check out the results to the last one: Visit all the national parks and urinate in at least one tree at each - 2 Evangelize the tastiness of ranch dressing to third world countries - 2 Visit Every Airport in the world with a McDonalds - 2 Devote her life to sharing the joy that pills can bring - 7 To convince people that she really isn't crazy - 6 There is a right answer to this one. Popular vote seems to go toward pills, followed closely by the crazy one. Those are, though, not the right answers. The right answer will have to go to the visiting every McDonalds that is in an airport. I will be taking ideas for a new survey, so if ya got any, get 'em to me. |

Birthday Wishes I would be remiss if I let the day go by without wishing Jill a very happy birthday. So...happy birthday Jill. When's the party? Jen would be proud In terms of weather, this is a very nice evening. It would be great for a romantic walk in the park...or for those of us who aren't endowed with the romantic other, just a walk in the park. I actually got out and spent some time wandering around the farm here...Jen would be proud. Ya know...cause she loves being outside and all... The Summer Where has the summer gone? Seems like its just flown by...at least to me. I guess that's what you get when there is nothing to set one day apart from another. I really should do something to set them apart from one another. |

Exit stage West Well ladies and gentlemen, I will be on vacation starting tomorrow. The family and I are heading to Cincinnati and then on to Louisville. I'll be getting back on Saturday sometime, so I expect a warm welcome when I get back as I know that each and every one of my readers will miss me very much. What am I saying? I know you won't. *sigh* The Survey Well, the survey has been up for 20 days, time to get a new one. Drew's page seemed to be a hit with some of you, others just shot him down in cold blood. Shame on you. 10 - 7 9 - 3 8 - 0 7 - 1 6 - 2 5 - 0 4 - 2 3 - 2 2 - 2 1 - 6 The new survey, as you may have noticed, is featuring Jen and her life long goal. You're gonna have to guess about this one. Adios. |

Wow. Looks like its been a few days since I've updated the page... I made an update on Sunday about it being my birthday, but I never made an update after that about the Crazy Geek party that I had. It was actually a decent party. In attendance were Ike, Joey, Jen, Luke, Ian, Melanie, BeEf, Tracy, and Andrew Racer. Jen made us get outside and play a few games and, other than the heat, that turned out to be pretty enjoyable. That was pretty much the party. Just before I started writing here, something hit me. This year is more than half over. That is incredible to me...it seems like New Years wasn't too long ago. Time passes so quickly sometimes. Wow. Happy Birthday Drew! |

Search Engines It recently came to my attention that Joey has a good theory on search engines. Its quite intriguing... "You enter in a search query, press 'search' and the server then reads your mind to figure out exactly what you really want, not necessarily what you typed in. It then sprinkles some pages with descriptions that are exactly what you want, all of which lead to either '404 - Not founds,' or '403 - Forbiddens,' just to be sadistic." See, I told you it was good. The pop-top can You know, the man who invented the pop-top can...sheer genius. Every time I pop open a Coke or other beverage in a can, I think that. |
| 07.15.99 |

AP Scores Its that time of year again. Everyone gets their AP Test scores back. From the few people I've spoken with, it would appear that AP History kicked everybody's rear. I got a 2...Joey got a 2. Ouch. I did, however, do better on the Computer Science. Scored a 4 on it. Ah well. That's life. |

Hello Hello to everyone, once again. Life can be a queer thing...ya know? Some things just happen that make you sit back and think to yourself, "Where did that come from?" You know, things that just come along out of nowhere and knock you off of your feet. I suppose that is life. Anyway, Jen is back. She, Luke, and I went out and had ourselves a little fun. That's pretty much my day. |

People Summer is here and people scatter. Jill is in Myrtle Beach, Drew is on an island somewhere there, Reese happens to be there also, Jen is in Mexico - I got a postcard from her today. She's been gone for two weeks and I miss her... Ah well, they'll be back sometime. I may go have one of those vacations myself. I would like to know, though, what the big attraction of the beach is. I mean, why would anyone go to Myrtle Beach? Is it just because everybody else does? I am personally fond of the west coast. Its cooler, and its not a big tourist trap. You have just received my $0.02. |

Drew's New Page / New Survey Drew has himself a new page, his first and only, I believe. That is also the subject of the survey for a while - what do you think of it? Its a simple 1 to 10 scale. 1 is very poor, 10 is great. The numbers in between are varying levels between those two extremes. Take a look at his page and pick a number. |

Etc. I hope you all had a safe, enjoyable Fourth of July. Hope your hamburgers were properly cooked and that you still have all of your fingers. On occasion, I will make some comment about the local weather. Watch closely, another one of those occasions is coming up now. Its hot here. Very very hot. Over at the mall, the temperature was a toasty 101°. That is, by the way, too hot for me. Anyway...that's the weather. |

The Survey The results are once again in. So without further ado... Swiss Cake Rolls - 57 Star Crunch - 6 Peanut Butter Bars - 30 Nutty Bars - 13 Zebra Cakes - 32 Oatmeal Cream Pies - 10 PB and J's - 1 Jelly Rolls - 0 Fudge Rounds - 1 Seems that lots of people like Swiss Cake Rolls...no..wait...that was just Zach stuffing the ballot box before I fixed it. Well, new survey in a few days. The subject of that is still up in the air, so if you have any suggestions, send them in. (If you take a look at the contact page you'll find lots of nifty ways to do that.) |

Guvna Ventura Joey tells me that Guvna Ventura served in his state's congress before he was elected governor. I guess he got tried somewhat before the people bought. Still, only in America. =) |
