	20 Jun 01	Well folks, ppse.org is just about done for. In a week (June 28th) I will lose that domain name because of a lack of funds to continue this website. You can still access my company website at http://www.ovnet.com/~voltz/prog.htm. It's been fun, people. I'm glad I started ppse.org--I've learned a lot from the experience.
	27 Apr 00	I've made a few minor changes and corrections to Rosary v6.0 and Stations of the Cross v6.0. If you have downloaded one of these programs, please click on the appropriate link to grab the newest versions.

	11 Nov 99	Attention music lovers! I've just completed the beta version of Jukebox v6.2 and made it available for downloading here.
	28 Oct 99	My COBOL contract is starting to lapse, thus I now have more time for Visual Basic projects such as Jukebox and Tracker's Buddy. Jukebox is nearly completed now, and I anticipate a beta test version will be available within a few weeks.

	14 Sep 99	I've finally given Pirate Pete's Software Emporium it's own domain name; hopefully, this will make it easier for you to find my site, and consequently draw more visitors.
	11 Jul 99	I'm currently hard at work for a client on a major COBOL programming conract, which I expect to last at least for one full year, perhaps longer. All major projects (such as Tracker's Buddy, Jukebox, Web Buddy, and others) must as a consequence be relegated to the "back burner" -- this is not to say that these projects are no longer important (far from it!); however, due to time constraints, I am forced to put these in a lower priority, where they will receive attention as I find the time.

Some of the software is freeware and some is shareware; in the table below I've marked clearly which is which.

Application Programs
DOS Programs

dosmn503.zip	shareware	DOSMENU v5.03 is a small .EXE program which provides an easy way to build "point 'n shoot" menus for DOS applications. With DOSMENU, there's no need for monster batch programs and no more lengthy explanations on DOS techniques. Just build your users a menu and let 'em go at it! Unlike DOSSHELL, which became available with DOS 4.0, DOSMENU doesn't eat up any program memory. When you make a selection it releases itself from memory and begins executing in a standard DOS batch file mode.
Utility Programs

rp47.zip	shareware	RP is a string replacement utility. In its simplest form, it searches files for all occurrences of one string of characters and replaces them with another. RP will operate on multiple file sets, and also allows you to search and replace multiple strings. You can use plain ASCII string arguments, or you can use hexadecimal arguments.
jukebox.zip	freeware	JUKEBOX is a front-end program for music players. You can select up to 999 songs at a time and play them on up to 4 different players.
Religious Programs

rosary46.zip	freeware	This program contains the complete set of prayers for the Rosary (including the 15 Mysteries). It is being offered as freeware--I only ask that you use the program to say the Rosary at least once, and try to pass it on to your friends.
kjv50.zip	freeware	The complete King James Version Bible, version 5.0! The .ZIP is 1.6 megabytes, and you'll need about 7 meg free disk space to uncompress it. This program resides on Walnut Creek CD-ROM FTP.
Windows 3.1 Programs All of my Windows 3.1 programs shown below were written in Visual Basic 4.0 (16-bit) and require Visual Basic 4.0 runtime files. Any Windows 3.1 program which says it uses the JET ENGINE database also requires the file msajt200.dll to be copied into your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

Rosary for Windows, v5.0	freeware	Have you ever had difficulty remembering which prayers and meditations to say when praying the Rosary? Never more! With Rosary v5.0 for Windows at your side to guide you, praying and remembering the Rosary has never been easier! Rosary v5.0 for Windows is a complete set of prayers and mysteries for the Rosary. Using a graphical interface, the program guides you through each of the 5 decades of the Rosary, and all prayers and meditations in between. It keeps track of which of the three sets of mysteries need to be said by the system date, but the program also allows you to change the current mystery on the fly. I started this version of Rosary for Windows on 26 May 1997 due to the interest in my earlier program, Rosary v4.6 for DOS. As with the DOS version, this version is FREEWARE. I only ask that you copy the program and share it with your friends. May it bless you in your life as it has done me. Praise be God's Holy Name! This program resides on Walnut Creek CD-ROM FTP.
Windows 95 Programs All of my Windows 95 programs shown below were written in either Visual Basic 5.0 (which requires you to have Visual Basic 5.0 SP3 files installed on your system; you can get the required files by downloading, unzipping, and installing vb500a.zip and vb500b.zip, from Walnut Creek CDROM FTP) or Visual Basic 6.0 (which requires you to have VB 6.0 runtime files installed on your system. You can get the required files by downloading and installing Visual Basic 6.0 runtime (Service Pack 3) from Microsoft's Support site).

Rosary for Windows 95, v5.1	Visual Basic 5.0	freeware	This is the 32-bit version of Rosary, for Windows 95. The new version includes a few new items, including random religious bitmaps that display at start up. You can use Rosary v5.1 to keep track of novenas, say the "Pro-Life Rosary," and say the "Chaplet of the Divine Mercy" . When you exit the program, Rosary stores the day number of a novena, the last prayer said, and any novena intentions you might have entered. This program resides on Walnut Creek CD-ROM FTP.
Rosary v6.0	Visual Basic 6.0	freeware	This version of Rosary for Windows 95/98 is upgraded to make use of the power of Visual Basic 6.0. I made several changes and improvements to the Rosary 5.1 user interface.
Stations of the Cross, v6.0	Visual Basic 6.0	freeware	This is the complete Stations of the Cross, with images borrowed from Virtual Stations of the Cross (web site no longer exists).
Programming Utilities

MemUsage, v1.0	Visual Basic 5.0	Freeware	Use this handy little utility to tell if your programs have memory leaks. Program can check memory usage on demand or continuously at 1/10 of a second intervals. Has "mark memory" and "compute difference" features to calculate memory usage for a specific interval.
CShell.DLL, v1.0.16	Visual Basic 5.0	freeware	As anyone who has ever tried his hand programming Visual Basic 5.0 using the Windows API knows, the process tends to be extremely time consuming and often frustrating (I've seen dozens of requests for help on comp.lang.basic.visual.misc regarding the Windows API). Yet, for all of the seeming headaches involved, power programming with the Windows API is one of the most mentally stimulating and emotionally rewarding things you can do. There's nothing quite like the satisfaction you get when you implement a Windows API function to give your program a little extra pizzazz. CShell is a FREE utility DLL to encapsulate some of the more difficult Windows 95 Shell API functions. The .ZIP file includes the .DLL, Visual Basic 5.0 source code, a test project, and a help file. CShell's main features include: Ability to terminate a foreign application Ability to extract the hWnd from a foreign application's main window Ability to launch "executable" files by association (using precisely the same process that Windows 95 uses when you double-click a file in the Windows Explorer). Ability to browse subdirectories using Windows 95 standard interface. Ability to select one or multiple files using Windows Common Dialog Control. ...and much more. To ensure that I retain complete control over the DLL and its code, I won't be uploading it to Walnut Creek CDROM, as I normally do. Instead, I will place CShell.ZIP on my server. This way, if there are bug fixes and/or improvements, I can pass them along to you without re-uploading to Walnut Creek (a time-consuming process).

Metronome, v1.0.3	Visual Basic 5.0	freeware	Attention trackers! Use this little utility to keep time when you're recording .WAV samples with Sound Forge or Cool Edit. Visual Basic 5.0 source code included. Uses a binary feedback loop to make sure the beats per minute is in synch with the system clock.
